There’s a significant amount of discussion surrounding AI at the moment, although much of it remains quite abstract. How can we teach machines to assign value in a way that aligns with human perspectives? What approaches can we develop to ensure that the advantages of technology surpass the associated risks? Samsung Ai Assistant
No matter your viewpoint on AI, there are ongoing discussions about its potential uses in business, how it can assist creatives and artists, or how students might misuse it during exams. Examples illustrating how AI positively impacts daily life seem limited.
This is evidently a challenge related to delivery and user experience. Therefore, Samsung collaborated with BBH Singapore to reconsider how AI can integrate with our lives and ease our burdens for its Galaxy S25 Ultra.
In one advertisement, a woman in a hectic office receives an informal lunch invitation from a friend—an invitation that often leads to complicating mental and logistical considerations, making it easier to ignore. In this case, she simply delegates the problem and all its variables to her phone, which even prepares the text response for her. All she needs to do is hit send.
In another commercial, a man wakes up to a “morning brief” from his Galaxy S25, making it easier for him to rise and shine. His day is displayed on the screen, neatly organized, right down to his A.M. jog.
“We spotted a significant opportunity with the S25 Ultra launch to reshape how people perceive Galaxy AI,” notes agency CCO Sascha Kuntze. “Through a campaign centered around genuine daily insights, we’ve illustrated how Galaxy AI seamlessly integrates into people’s lives—not merely as cutting-edge technology, but as a companion.”
To enhance relatability, BBH meticulously crafted what it describes as a “cinematic universe” of characters experiencing mundane situations that can hinder us or derail our day. The narrative stays rooted in their perspective. Although the ads briefly explore the AI’s media universe—analyzing data, evaluating restaurants, checking the weather, and other routine tasks—we used to perform these actions without AI assistance, which was far slower compared to the rapid processing of the S25.
If the service operates as smoothly as depicted here, it creates a compelling argument for how AI elevates your virtual assistant’s capabilities, potentially attracting users who might have previously avoided conversing with their phones (like us).
“Collaborating with BBH, the campaign flawlessly demonstrates the next phase of Galaxy AI, ushering in a new era where your phone comprehends and adapts to you like never before,” states Samsung EVP Sung Chang.
There’s a graveyard of unsuccessful dedicated AI assistant devices from the previous year. Samsung aims to overshadow those failures and proclaim the genuine arrival of the AI assistant era. The Samsung Galaxy S25 phones could represent a groundbreaking advance in mobile cross-application capabilities. These devices invite you to trust that they’ll convert a text message into a calendar event, nearly hands-free. That is, provided you have faith that the AI model won’t err.
These AI functionalities, introduced at Samsung’s most recent Galaxy Unpacked event, encompass nearly everything Apple promised with Apple Intelligence last year, now made a reality. However, amid these promises lies the fundamental issue of AI reliability. Samsung showcased the feature for Gizmodo behind closed doors, but we have yet to test it extensively. Samsung assures that its on-device and cloud-based AI processing keeps all your data secure. Samsung Ai Assistant
The Galaxy S25, S25+, and S25 Ultra phones now utilize Google Gemini instead of any proprietary AI blend like in Samsung’s earlier devices. However, even though Google’s software is central, you can’t disregard all of your Samsung apps. If you instruct the AI assistant to create a calendar event from a screenshot, the device will default to your Samsung Calendar rather than Google Calendar. If you want it to utilize Google Calendar, you’ll need to specify that in your request.
Older functionalities, such as call translation, that were highlighted in last year’s Galaxy S24 still operate on-device, though this isn’t true for every new AI capability. The generative edit, similar to the Magic Eraser feature, now functions on-device, which Samsung attributes to the more powerful Snapdragon 8 Elite chip. AI-enhanced Gallery and settings search also run on-device, but your Gemini-based assistant won’t always remain solely on your phone, depending on certain commands. This explains why Google includes six months of Gemini Advanced subscriptions (along with 2 TB of cloud storage) with each new S25.
Samsung demonstrated that you can choose which apps and content you permit the AI to access. This applies not just to the prompts you offer to the AI assistant, but also to the new Now Brief widget that appears on the lock screen, which is also infused with AI. By default, it has access to everything from your health and wellness tracking to your photos and calendar events.
Samsung refers to the on-device AI privacy feature as the “personal data engine.” The company stated that all user data is end-to-end encrypted when sent to them for cloud processing. Samsung also assures that it does not utilize prompts or data for targeted advertising purposes. However, users have the option to change a setting to process data solely on-device, which may limit access to certain AI functions that depend on cloud data.
These new software features could find applications, but we still need to evaluate them beyond Samsung’s restricted preview environment. Additionally, it’s important to note that not all new AI features operate directly on-device. The more complex tasks necessitate a sophisticated AI model, which in turn relies on Google’s overloaded data centers that consume significant amounts of water and electricity. The ongoing climate crisis will likely be exacerbated by AI, even as big tech continues to advocate for nuclear energy.
When asking the AI to compose a text, the bot will not send it for you. If you request change in settings, it will direct you to the appropriate page, but you will have to confirm the action yourself. As long as users maintain control, they can correct any errors the AI model may make. The greater concern will be whether the AI will successfully complete the task, even when not directly monitored.
The eagerly awaited AI features of Samsung’s Galaxy S25 series were revealed during Samsung Unpacked yesterday (January 22) and are expected to transform the smartphone experience. Equipped with a variety of advanced AI features powered by Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy, the new models present improved AI assistance and enhanced visual search, building on the functionalities introduced last year.
Crafted to integrate seamlessly into users’ everyday lives, innovations like Cross App Actions allow users to perform tasks without the need to open various applications. At the same time, Samsung promises interactions that are more intuitive and tailored with Galaxy AI.
Some of the AI tools showcased at Unpacked are integrated into the One UI 7 software that operates on the Galaxy S25 and will soon be available to other Samsung flagship devices through a software update. Other features appear to be specific to the S25 models—we will learn more as we spend additional time with the new devices and explore each feature.
A notable feature in One UI 7 is Now Brief, an AI-driven tool that offers users personalized summaries based on their preferences. For instance, users can review their daily schedules in the morning and receive energy scores from their Samsung wearables.
Commuters can leverage Now Brief to utilize Google Maps to save their favorite locations and music. At the conclusion of the day, the feature summarizes daily activities and can create a photo collage of special moments.
Samsung has strengthened its partnership with Google’s Gemini AI, allowing for more advanced interactions with the Samsung Ai Assistant across supported applications.
For example, users can now request Gemini to analyze content on-screen, such as summarizing a YouTube video and directly saving the key points in Samsung Notes. Another example highlighted by Samsung included searching for information about a location and sharing the findings with a friend via text while also obtaining directions to that place.
One UI 7 introduces call recording along with a transcription feature that eliminates the need for users to take notes. Moreover, AI can generate a summary of the call for easy reference.
On-device translations now support 20 languages, facilitating communication across language barriers.
Samsung has also promoted the Personal Data Engine, which is a feature of the Galaxy S25. It is designed to provide hyper-personalized user experiences while ensuring complete privacy and security.
This feature examines user data to deliver highly customized experiences that reflect personal preferences and behavior patterns, applying them across various apps to ensure the most personalized experience possible.
According to Samsung’s description, the Personal Data Engine learns from users’ phone habits. For example, if you often connect to Bluetooth when entering your car, you will start receiving prompts about turning on Bluetooth as you get into the vehicle.
The Circle to Search feature, introduced a year ago, has been enhanced to improve visual searches. By circling any part of the screen, users can instruct the AI to give detailed information about the highlighted content.
This functionality now extends to video content, allowing users to identify and learn more about specific elements within videos to enhance their viewing experience.
Samsung Ai Assistant Select enables users to extract particular segments from videos, text, and even QR codes. By simply drawing a circle around the desired content, users can choose what they want to save, share, or search. Users can even create high-quality GIFs easily with this same feature.
These integrations make multitasking and information retrieval more efficient.
One UI 7’s AI integration Samsung Ai Assistant
Advancements in AI are smoothly incorporated into One UI 7, which should result in a more natural and intuitive experience with AI. Essentially, the AI comprehensively understands the context of your needs and preferences, facilitating deeper personalization.
The revised interface introduces the Now Bar, a feature that allows quick access to vital information from the lock screen, such as live activities like music playback and timers.
This design allows users to engage with key functions without unlocking their devices, boosting convenience and efficiency.
Natural language search represents one of the most useful applications of AI, allowing users to search using conversational language, a feature that Apple Intelligence has already implemented in its devices. Now, Samsung is following suit by rolling out natural language search capabilities for both photos and device settings.
This enables you to use prompts like, “Show me photos from my trip to Italy two years ago,” or “Make the text on my screen easier to read,” and swiftly obtain the results you desire.
While Apple’s Photos app features this functionality, Google Photos has long been at the forefront with a significantly more developed photo search engine, delivering highly accurate results based on your searches. If Samsung decides to adopt a similar strategy by utilizing Google’s Gemini AI, its natural language search could potentially exceed Apple’s and offer users a more robust and effective experience.
The Audio Eraser feature allows users to isolate specific audio, such as a piano performance, by removing background noise. Fueled by Galaxy AI, it can identify and separate sounds from a range of sources, including voices, music, wind, nature, crowds, and general noise. Users can then fine-tune and adjust the volume to achieve their desired audio output.
The Galaxy S25 series also brings improved AI-powered tools to enhance your creative experience. Writing Assist now includes features like content summarization and text formatting, enabling you to produce superior content with AI support. Drawing Assist brings your concepts to life by allowing you to create refined drawings using an array of prompts, including text, images, and sketches.
The Samsung Galaxy S25 series signifies a remarkable advancement in smartphone AI capabilities. By emphasizing personalized assistance, seamless integration, and intuitive interactions, Samsung aspires to deliver a device that not only meets but anticipates the needs of its users.
As AI continues to progress, the Galaxy S25 series places itself at the leading edge of this technological evolution, establishing new benchmarks for what users can expect from their smartphones.
