About Us

FREDMT.org (Financial Resource Education Database in Montana) is the result of a three-year effort by the Montana Financial Education Coalition (MFEC) and the Montana Society of Certified Public Accountants (MSCPA - www.mscpa.org), to bring reliable, comprehensive financial education resources together in one place for Montanans.

Personal finance is often complicated, and the mistakes people make by managing their finances through trial and error can be costly for both themselves and the economy. Financial education can help. There are many financial education providers, curricula, games, and other tools, making it both a directory and library of financial education resources.

Founded in 2004, the MFEC is a broad alliance of financial institutions, government agencies, non-profits, businesses, and other interested organizations who believe that financial literacy is essential to the economic advancement of our state. MFEC strives to improve the personal financial knowledge and decision-making ability of all Montana citizens by promoting public awareness of the need for personal financial education, and by uniting and building capacity of financial education programs (www.mtmfec.org).

Founded in 1913, MSCPA is a statewide organization of more than 1,800 accounting professionals. MSCPA works with its members to provide and promote financial education opportunities using CPAs’ unique skill sets and knowledge to make a difference in Montana communities.
